1962 wurde Arno Fischer Teil des Redaktionsteams bei Sibylle, der bekanntesten Lifestyle Zeitschrift der DDR. Die vorwiegend der Mode gewidmete Zeitschrift war in der DDR einzigartig, da die Fotografen ihre eigene künstlerische Ideen umsetzen konnten.

Some buckling, scuff marks and creases on one print, the other with buckling and traces of previous mounting, otherwise both in good to very good condition.

Ostberlin, Besuch von N.S. Chruschtschow (Leninallee). 1957. Gelatin silver print on doubleweight paper, printed 1980s. 23,6 x 34,2 cm. Signed, annotated and dated (1958) by the photographer in pencil as well as photographer's stamp on the verso.

Arno Fischer's documentary-style photographs of both East and West Berlin offer a timeless glimpse into the challenges and resilience of the city's inhabitants during this period. They represent valuable historical records as well as works of art. – Light crease in upper left corner, corners bumped, retouched spot and small dent in upper left, otherwise a strong print in very good condition.

Whether in New York, Moscow or Leningrad or India, Arno Fischer got close to people and gave them a stage, so to speak. He never sought the exotic when traveling, but rather recorded moods. With his portraits he placed inconspicuous people at the center of his lens. The results are often tender images, in a wonderful composition of light and shadow. – Stronger traces of use, edges curled, stains/soiling, especially in margins, creases in corners, a few with stronger vertical crease in right edge.
